Fireplace Log maintenance

Fireplace Log maintenance
We have received a number of service calls lately involving gas log problems, only to find that the issue is that the logs have been moved from their original factory specific placement by the customer. A gas log or gas fireplace flame is made to burn effectively , in part, by the proper placement of the ceramic logs over the gas burner.
If you think about it, a normal gas flame is blue. If one were to look at a gas kitchen range you would see a blue flame, with a slight yellowing at the tip. However, a gas log or gas fireplace is engineered to burn with a consistent yellow, wavering flame.
If you play with the log set-up, you are probably spoiling the design performance of that product. More likely than not the flame will burn poorly and create sooting problems and blacken the glass front. This is a good thing to know before you have to ask one of our service techs to straighten out the problem for you.
It should also be obvious but you should not roast marshmallows over the flames, or otherwise introduce any food, trash or wood to a gas fire log setup.
